TIJUANA NIGHTS AT THE GRAND HOTEL

It was a long Memorial Day weekend. Dental finished. Rather than catch a cab, just to queue-up with the crowd at the Tijuana border crossing, we decided to relax.  We walked the neighborhood, enjoyed a tasty, homemade Mexican meal at a local eatery and stayed the night at the Grand Hotel.

Grand Hotel – Tijuana

Although American Bio Dental and Medical has assured me many times, that patients love the convenience and cooperation of the staff, the Grand Hotel has gotten mixed reviews. This was a perfect occasion to experience The Grand Hotel myself.

TIP #1 – Always remember to use your AAA for discounts.

The card works in Tijuana. Also, as a patient of AmericanBioDental, you are eligible for a “special” rate.

TIP #2 – Don’t forget to tell your bank that you plan to be traveling to Tijuana.

It’s easy to forget because after all, it’s just a 2 1/2 hour drive and there are no airports involved for Californians. Don’t be as surprised as I was,s to have your debit or credit cards cut off as a security measure… Ouch!

Comments about the lobby puzzle me. First of all, there’s the required, giant, welcoming bouquet:

Okay, so the lobby’s not posh. How much time do you spend sitting in the lobby anyway?

Time to spare? There’s a cozy, lobby bar for a short, or long Mexican cerveza…

The room was perfectly nice, with a view of the Golf Course. You can even open the window for fresh air…

FREE WiFi

Surprisingly good lighting, comfy Beds, a big Screen TV, with lots of American Channels -in English, so you won’t miss the news or your favorite shows.

The best part? PURIFIED WATER FOUNTAINS in the bathroom. Genius! As well as, convenient hair dryer, coffee maker, and coffee.

You’ll appreciate the very nice Italian amenities…

Big deal, the hallways aren’t the brightest. I had no trouble finding my room…

We took a walk before dinner. The Grand Hotel Mall neighborhood I saw was pretty peaceful. Did I mention that The Grand Hotel has secure indoor parking?

But don’t take my word for it. This is an old post, and there have been updates since then. Especially important is the 11th floor of the Grand that is dedicated to people recovering from medical and dental procedures at one of the clinics in the building:
